16th Annual Fish Fry
posted September 29 by
Friday, September 4, 2015 - 10:00am to 6:00pm

The first Friday in September continues to be a call to the community…. “Come and get it !”. Concern Hotline’s 16 th annual Fish Fry Held at Grove’s Winchester Harley Davidson raised more money than ever before! Over 30 THOUSAND DOLLARS!!! ALL of these proceeds directly support our HOTLINE services…serving over 7,000 calls a year!

We entertained over 2,000 attendees with food, drink, information and music, cooked over 7oo lbs of fish and came as close as EVER to eating 30 pans of red beans and rice! Our drive through continues to serve those who want to run and eat…but there was no eating and running inside the event! Phil Zuckerman’s Rock Room musicians and The Voice of the Valley Karaoke contest by New City Entertainment kept people moving all night! Kids ate Papa John’s pizza and attacked the 5-Alarm Fun slide with reckless abandon!! Vendors sold their wares and other non-profits shared their mission with us. There was even a talking chicken!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch…listeners covered extra shifts to allow our staff and other volunteers to concentrate on the event….a behind the scenes endeavor, but crucial to the success of the day. Concern continues to receive approximately 20 calls per day…so this was no small task!

We would like to thank our sponsors and donators who help continue to make this event the success and good time the community has come to expect….especially, Northwestern Community Services Crisis Intervention Team, Valley Health, Sunbelt Rentals, Grove’s Harley Davidson, Harvest Moon/Vitamins’ Plus, Wells Fargo, Virginia Eagle, The George Washington Hotel, and approximately FIFTY other partners with Concern!! Small and large…there is NO donation that does not contribute to the success of this community event.

The volunteers, staff and Board of Directors at Concern Hotline wish to acknowledge the efforts of all of our partners, and thank them for allowing us to continue to serve our neighbors in the Northern Shenandoah Valley. Until next time we shout…”Come and get it” remember…we are just a phone call away.
