Goodwill Industries operates based on donations to their retail outlets. The retail outlets sales go towards funding job training programs and employment opportunities. Donations needed - everything from clothes to household appliances to children's toys to house wares.
Provide multiple levels of support to individuals with a wide range of emothinal and/or behavioral challenges. Provide a continuum of services for children, adolescents and adults to overcome challenges and lead productive lives. Services include but are not limited to the following: Applied Behavior Ananlysis, Psychiatric Residential Treatment, Short-term Stabilization, Community Based Group Homes, Early Intervention, Education, and Outpatient services.
Provides a free book bag exchange program to families with young children. The Gus Bus visits neighborhoods, schools, and different locations to share books in an interactive environment.
Helps build or rehabilitate decent homes for qualified applicants. Qualified families purchase homes at cost.
National child development and school readiness program that provides services to promote academic, social and emotional development for eligible families. Provides comprehensive education, health, nutrition, dental, mental health, social services and parent involvement opportunities.
Regional, public health agency providing leadership in planning, developing, and implementing coordinated, prevention-oriented programs to promote and protect the health of the citizens in the Lord Fairfax Health District. Walk-in sites provide health screening; adult and child immunizations; HIV testing; pregnancy testing; TB risk assessment and prophylactic treatment; family planning; women's health; foreign travel consultation.
Healthy Families works with first time parents in the community that may have additional burdens or stress that can impact parenting outcomes. Mothers/families complete assessment process @ 20 weeks prenatal and from birth to 3 months. Most assessments conducted after delivery at hospital or within 2 weeks of birth. Services offered include parent education classes, referrals to community services, home visiting services.
Private, not-for-profit home for abused/neglected children. Residential program providing access to counseling, socialization, academic support, independent living preparation, and family support work. Children placed by DSS agencies or through private arrangements with legal guardians; Scholarships available for children of homless families; Alumni support into adulthood as needed.
Provides non-medical home care, including companionship, home helper and personal care. Provides assistance with activities of daily living so that individuals may live independently for as long as possible.
Drug and alcohol free facility 16 bed shelter accomodations for maximum of 6 months. Help clients work to get back into the community; help with paperwork and obtaining all available services. Provide case management for men, helping to develop goals based on individual needs-monitor progress weekly. Offer a bed, food, clothing, shower, laundry facilities, Life Skills Workshops, companionship, encourragement and other support to those in need.
