APPLE VALLEY MEDIATION NETWORK, INC.

Provides mediation for court ordered and private cases - general cases and family mediation. Restorative Justice program provides trained facilitators to educate people about the damage done committing crimes.

ARC

Advocate for people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities and their families. Provides informational newsletters, social and recreational activities, trainings and community education on various topics.

BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU (Richmond Office) - Consumer Services

Provides consumer information, takes consumer complaints, evaluates charities, and provides arbitration in consumer disputes. Offers information about companies before the consumer does business with them, and provides information to facilitate intelligent buying decisions. Assists consumers with complaints; complaints must be in writing.

BIG BROTHERS/BIG SISTERS

Matches qualified, screened adult volunteers with children to develop positive one-on-one mentoring relationship. Places adults in local elementary schools with at-risk children. Requires completed application. Accepts school referrals.

BLUE RIDGE COUNSELING CENTER

Private counseling on range of issues, except marriage counseling. One counselor specializes in alcoholism. Psychiatric services limited to individuals 16 yrs and older.

BLUE RIDGE EDUCATIONAL CENTER

Licensed day school for students with disabilities. Assistance for home school students. Individual after school tutoring.

NORTHWESTERN COMMUNITY SERVICE BOARD

Provides crisis services, case management, psychiatric services and medication management for individuals and families with mental illness, substance abuse disorders, and intellectual disabilities. Case management programs can assist clients to obtain food vouchers and food as needed. The agency itself does not provide a food service. BLUE RIDGE HOSPICE INC.

Provides physical, emotional, social, and spiritual care for terminally ill patients and their families. Inpatient care, medical and social services, grief & loss support, palliative care, pain management, music therapy. All care given by Blue Ridge Hospice is under professional medical supervision to allow the patient to live as pain-free and comfortable as possible. In most cases, hospice provides care in the patient's home and assisted living/nursing homes.

BLUE RIDGE HOUSING NETWORK

Identifies housing needs and gaps and tries to find ways to fill those gaps. Programs include HOMEownership Down Payment Assistance Program, Sponsoring Partnerships and Revitalizing Communities, Homeownership Education Classes.
